“Did you realize . . .?” That’s what we’ll be asking students tonight @ Sr. High OTTAGETTU. We’re continuing our series on “Developing HABITS that will Change Your Life” by talking about being involved in & serving within the church body.
Somewhere along the way, many churches & their adult leaders have absorbed this idea that teenagers are the “church of the future” or the “church of tomorrow” & don’t see teenagers playing an active role as the “church of today.” We strongly disagree with this philosophy. We believe that ALL Christians are called to serve God & serve others. Teenagers don’t have to wait until they’re 18 & out of high school to play a role within the church body. This lesson is designed to remind teenagers that they can invest time in God’s work today & develop the habit of involvement & service now.
God has gifted our young people in ways that you might not even know about. Jesse didn’t know that David, his youngest son who was out with the sheep, was already picked by God to lead Israel. Challenge your teenager to step out in faith with God & serve.
Here are some questions you could ask your teenager this week to start some good dialogue:
Are you afraid of the future? Why or why not?
Do you feel qualified enough for God to use you to minister to other people?
What would it be like to get involved in a ministry @ church & serve other people?
